 According to it classification the scientific name for rainbow trout is Oncorhynchus mykiss, belongs to phylum chordate, its order is salmon formes and it is from salmonidae. Rainbow trout can be identified by the salmon-like body shape and can be characterized from other trout by the dark spots on their tail fins. A normal adult rainbow trout weighs from 0.45-2.27kg. The rainbow trout have a dark olive colored back and which inch by inch shades to slivery white in the belly part. Rainbow trout are inhabitant to North American streams and lakes of Rocky Mountains. Its original distribution was confined to the Pacific Ocean. Today, regional populations are found in most of the primary coastal landmarks of British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. In the northern part of California, rainbow trout are usually landlocked however migration up to Santa Bomingu River can occur in the course of high runoff in winter.  Therefore, the population incorporates a very diverse range of environmental state.
The rainbow trout are sensitive to warm temperature so it cannot survive naturally in many of those environments. Rainbow trout has been launched into 47 states outside of its residential area which includes the great lakes, south central Canada, Rocky Mountains and southern Mexico. Its variety expands from the Arctic circle to equator in the northern hemisphere and from the equator to 55 degree south in the southern hemisphere.
Rainbow trout was deliberately established for the motive of sport fishing into new water structure by being physically transported, in adult form and liberated. Those fishes eventually bred and increased in population. As a result of human activity like waterways or dams, rainbow trout can move into unfathomed waterways. Rainbow trout has an aggressive nature that lets it dominate the underwater community of other species. It has the ability to challenge other fish for food resources. It is a highly versatile predator species.
The anadromous form of rainbow trout is called the steelhead as it is a cool to cold water fish that exists well in freshwater below 70 degree F.  At spawning time rainbow trout migrates back to the same headwater of its birth to lay its own egg. These trout spawn in the spring time. Though they are carnivorous they do not only feed on other fishes as they have wide range of prey including insect, mollusks and other small fishes. Rainbow trout adaptable to various habitats, but it also reveals a departure from the behavior of natural populations. Rainbow trout is responsible for the many endangered species. Controlling the population of rainbow trout involves individual removal from environment by making a law to throw back other species of fishes except of rainbow trout etc. rainbow trout is very popular; Both wild and farmed trout are used in making different types of cuisine specially the wild-caught ones as they have a tender and strong flavor in it.
Rainbow trout has become a good source of income for the people in different parts of the world, they open a farm and start trout husbandry; though trout fish are expensive there tasty flavor enhances people to buy them with which they earn a lot.
